Day 28: Foncebadón -> Ponferrada
Misty start to this leg, which goes via Cruz Ferro (a famous sight on the camino - will post photos). Steady downward incline to Ponferrada which is meant to be the most beautiful town on the way.

Cruz De Ferro
We were excited for this, expected a spiritual moment reaching the high point. But was a bit of an ‘Instagram vs. Reality’ moment - right next to a busy car park and fairly busy road. Anyone super religious would probably be quite disappointed, expecting peace and quiet to pray. Maybe we left too late (but only got light about half an hour ago). Cool to see all the stones left by pilgrims though. We added ours.
Most Beautiful Day
Unbelievably beautiful walk through the mountain woodlands (if continually rocky and downhill). Stopping off for a quick wine in a picture-perfect town called Molinaseca before the last 7km into Ponferrada. Sunshine, medieval bridge, happy pilgrims.
From Mist To Sunshine (More From Today)
Ft. ANOTHER “rare” praying mantis who joined us for a break. They’re looking out for us 👼🪲
Templar Castle
Didn’t find the Holy Grail unfortunately (although I think I saw it in the gift shop 🤔)
