Stage 14 etap 1 - June 7 2026
Yesterday I took a side trip to Safranbolu, a UNESCO world heritage village. Very worthwhile!
Today I will cycle with a lot of height gain from Bartin to Amasra by the black sea coast and then climb again eastwards to Kuruçasile. A small seaside town where I hope to camp. The temperature is up in the 30’s and the way is hilly and more remote for a few days.

It has been quite rare to meet another cycle tourer along the way.

At the end of a 1500m climbing day,the town I was assured had camping didn’t! But a local guy found me a non-listed beach lodging in the next village 4km further on. This was a real find right on the sandy beach with a sea view and restaurant! It made me wonder how many other ‘secret lodgings’ exist on my route where the internet shows nothing. Had a nice swim, a beer and a delicious fish dinner 😅
