Sailing The Tuamotus

As I write this now we’ve just heard the news that the depression we’ve been watching has been upgraded to a tropical cyclone with conditions worsening rapidly. It looks to be tracking more southerly than originally predicted which should reduce its impact on our location. We’re still tucked in behind a Motu so will hopefully get a good bit of protection as it tracks past over the next 12 hours.

Another first for us today on Nanuka was when we heard a strange noise coming from the top of the mast. A buzzing sort of sound. It gradually got louder and louder until there was a large clap of thunder and then the noise stopped. We can only assume it was static that was built up.
