Hike: Kumano Kodo from Takijiri
This part of the pilgrimage route is similar to the route I cycled to the campsite yesterday, but through the woods and over the higher hills, and with more little shrines and such along the way.
So fast on the bus!
The onsen at the campsite last night was nice and relaxing, if quite tired-looking.
This morning I found that my tent placement was not ideal - I normally aim for sun on the tent as early as possible (to help dry it if it's wet and warm me up if I'm cold, but have a tree shading it here 馃
Wow, it feels so fast travelling back to Takijiri by bus!

Erosion prevention?
A lot of trunks and big branches appear to be arranged perpendicular to the slope on this walk. It could be chance I guess, but I think many have been lain this way to reduce erosion.

This is a joke.
It's been perfect weather and a beautiful woodland walk. I started dawdling and snacking when I realised the walk was almost over! A couple of Australians who I passed 3 times thanks to my off-trail wanderings par me again and beat me back 馃檪
Chikatsuyu Oji
On getting back to town, I did some food shopping and had my 2nd ice-cream of the day.
The campsite was busier, but not noisy and I was able to use the onsen alone again in the evening 馃檪
