The Finish Line: Seattle
11,000 miles on the mileometer. Driving into Seattle today via a loop of Mount Rainier for our final couple of days of the trip, and the final days of our year of travel 🥺.
🌧️🎶
Getting rainier and rainier as we approach Mount Rainier. Listening to all our favourite road trip music again for the last big drive of the trip. (Mainly Fleetwood Mac and, oddly, Sheryl Crow’s ‘If It Makes You Happy’)
Seattle ❤️
Incredible fish and peony displays at Pike Place market (where we picked at a fresh seafood lunch for a couple of hours), aquarium (mainly to see the sea otters who did not disappoint), dinner at a very dark but very delicious restaurant called The Butcher’s Table, the Seattle Symphony playing Ravel’s Boléro at the Benaroya Hall, and a final cocktail to round off a perfect day in Seattle. This city has such a great vibe. Off to get brunch this morning before heading to the airport 🥹
Back To The UK!
Had a final meal at a classic American diner, wandered to the Space Needle, rode the monorail, and then cruised through Bill Gates’ neighbourhood and past the Microsoft HQ listening to remixes of Microsoft XP sound effects. Was weirdly emotional saying goodbye to our car, “Tucker” the Hyundai Tucson. Also emotional arriving at the airport, as this marks the end of our year of adventures.
