Italy
An adventure around Northern Italy!
Venice Airport
Treviso
Quick grocery shop!
Hotel Check In
It’s raining so it’ll be a trip planning day since I planned nothing for Italy!
Franes Waterfall
A must do hike! Try it counter clockwise for the easiest way (mostly with the rope climbing section). Totally worth it. Wear a rain jacket the waterfall is powerful!
Five Bulls
Really cool scenery. It’s great to see the huts and World War Two history!
Cortina D'Ampezzo
Walk around town!
Hotel For The Night
Lago Freda
Nice easy hike and worth the views! (Mind the mud and wear some good trekking shoes!)
Seceda
Cale car is 45 euro. A beautiful easy hike up top for a lower energy day!
Villa Imperils
Stayed here for 5 nights. The front staff was amazing and answered all questions I had! Just a warning the laundry is very expensive and I’d recommend you do it elsewhere. Additionally breakfast was typically gone (eggs at least) by 730- croissants and such were still great!
Drove To Venice, Now Bus To Train!
Off to cinque terre! There is a bus (10 euro) to get from the Venice airport to the train station. Signs are quite clear but don’t be afraid to ask a local!
23 Oct 2024 - 10:01
Next stop Cinque Terre.
Another Train
Gotta love train strikes. Glad I decided to travel on a rainy day! (Bologna Centrale to Parma)
Parma to La Spezia Centrale
As a personal note, I’ve enjoyed having a personal vehicle to do things at my own speed… today training to my destinations has made me have to slow down and wait for trains and delays. Here’s to hoping there is no more delays!
Hostel For The Night
I’ll update details after my stay!
Starting The Cinque Terre Adventure!
Fegina Beach
Beautiful sandy beach with what I’d consider warm water if you’re from Alberta, Canada. And a statue of Neptune.
Riomaggiore Beach
Dinner At Veciu Muin
Cinque Terre
Starting my day in corniglia
Church Of San Pierre
Remember to wear appropriate clothing to enter the churches here. This one isn’t.necessarily reinforced, however it is custom for women to cover shoulders and knees.
Lardarina
382 steps to get up into Corniglia. I think you’re forced to do this after you get off the train- or you can take the road route pending traffic. This is also quite uphill.
Manarola Harbour
Mar Mar Hostel
Stayed in Mar Mar hostel for 3 nights. Hostel was clean, the check in lady was helpful and the people were great! Not to mention the view was gorgeous!
Off To Tuscany Via Rail!
Florence!
Picking Up My Car At ACE!
San Gimignano
Cool little medieval town. Town is all paid parking but worth the stop!!
Diborrato Waterfall
Trail cannot be completed due to wash out. Water looks merky and unsuitable. Do not recommend
Siena Cathedral
Back To Car Camping For Two Nights
Morning Walk
Bango Vignoni
Beautiful town! A nice pond in the middle of the town. I touched it. Not a hot spring! But there are hot springs nearby for a cost!
Thermal Bath Of San Filippo
A must see. Close parking and only 1.50 euro per hour! (Recommend at least 2 hours)
Santeria Hot Springs
Honestly too many people to really enjoy. Parking is 2.50 per hour. Showers available for cost as well.
Pit Stop For The Night
There are quite a few free overnight parking spaces outside of the cities!
Hot Springs
Brolio Castle
7 euro to enter. Very cool and there is an amazing view at the top. Recommend.
Train To Rome
Made It To Rome!
Last stop of the trip then home!
Macondo Inn
The best pizza ever
Pantheon
5 euro entry fee! A good stop when walking to all the major site seeing attractions in Rome.
Piazza Navona
Alessandro Palace And Bar
Stayed here for two nights. The location is just next to the train station and a short 1.5-2.0km from the colosseum!
The down side is that is it quite loud and towels are not included in your stay. Additionally the toilet seats almost fall off when you sit on them.
Discover Rome
Explored Rome. Unfortunately a lot of the statues/ fountains are under construction. Spanish stairs are open and so is the colosseum. Colosseum tickets are sold out a week in advance during “peak” season. Still a nice walk.
Vatican City
Just had time today to see the museum and Chappell. It was definitely worth the price (20 euro). You can spend all day there! Audio book is 8 euro extra. Please be reminded shoulders and knees must be covered for women! I opted to bring a pair of pants in my bag and change into them once I was ready.
Ps you can also stand in line for tickets if you forget to book. I went around 1:30pm and the line was about half way to the end of the block (maybe more) waited 1.5 hours and was in!
