Sailing The Pacific | Slow Days

As we make our way through the ITCZ our progress is very slow. We have a mixture of no wind, very light wind, and strong winds when the occasional squall passes through.

At first it was really nice. We had calm seas which meant that even the slightest breeze would fill our sails. The sea state has now become a little more confused which makes for some uncomfortable sailing with banging sails as they struggle to hold their own weight. We have about 209 nautical miles until we reach the steady trades. It’ll definitely feel like a bit of a mile stone when we finally leave the ITCZ.
