Fort William to Oban
After catching the sleeper train from London we're cycling south to the port town of Oban to catch the ferry to Lochboisdale (the ferry to Castlebay has no bike spaces for a few days).
Fort William
A ferry and then a sleeper train, with a short wander around London in the sunshine between train connections. We've arrived in sunny Scotland ready to get back on the bikes for a couple of weeks.
Loch Linnhe and Views of Ben Nevis
2nd Ferry of the Day
Free for cyclists! From Ardgour to Corran
End of Day 1
We've been spoilt today - amazing weather, stunning scenery, and lovely cycle tracks. Really glad we took the west shore along the first section of Loch Linnhe - the quiet roads and wildlife more than made up for the slightly longer route.
Oban
A few more hills today, and sunnier than we were prepared for! We're in the beautiful port town of Oban this evening, ready to catch the ferry out to Western Isles tomorrow morning.
Ferry Oban to Uist
We were hoping to get the ferry to Barra but there are no bike spaces on the ferry for a few days so we're heading slightly further north to Uist.
All Aboard!
Sound of Mull
South Uist and Eriskay
We're not going to make it to the very start of the Hebridean Way but we'll go south 20km to explore Eriskay for an evening then continue North.
Eriskay
Our first evening in the Outer Hebrides has given us a great ride down to Eriskay via a causeway, an incredible sunset, followed by a few spots of rain just in time for bed. A morning dip for Lucy and a hot shower in the nearby ferry waiting room has set us up for the day.
Tony & Chief
We ate our lunch with a story teller called Tony who is walking the Hebridean Way with his horse Chief collecting and recording Kelpie stories - https://www.instagram.com/kelpietrails
Benbecula and North Uist
A Few From Today
We've cycled in 4 islands today and ended at a campsite in North Uist. Having just realised that tomorrow is Sunday and the grocery shops will be closed we're having to plan a little more carefully - a pub lunch might be on the cards!
North Uist to Berneray
We found a food van open for a tasty bowl of lentil soup. The weather is still mostly dry... A nice ride along the coast and moors of North Uist to the ferry in Berneray - Heading to Harris now.

Harris Day 1
Breakfast In Tarbert
The weather has changed over the past day, a cold wind overnight meant patchy sleep so we've stopped for a café pitstop in Tarbert on our way up to Stornoway.
Biscoff Bites
We've stopped for a few minutes of dry in a day shelter at Aline Woodland. Lucy has topped up our blood sugar levels with her newly invented Biscoff Bites.
Stornoway
We've reached the northernmost point of our ride and have taken a couple of days off the bikes in Stornoway to rest and celebrate our birthdays. Tomorrow we're heading back to Tarbert to catch the ferry to Skye.
In the Clouds
We had a full house on our ride back to Tarbert today - hills, strong headwinds, cold rain, and thick mist. Glad to be drying out back in Tarbert now ready for the ferry to Skye tomorrow.
