San Diego Zoo = Elite
Big, beautiful enclosures, so much to see (we were walking around it for 7 hours), incredible aviaries where the birds are basically landing on your head. And the bear pit that Ron Burgundy and Veronica Corningstone end up in at the end of Anchorman. LOVED this zoo.
Sea Lions And Seals 🥹
Stopped in La Jolla (fancy area of San Diego) for a stroll, stumbled across a colony of sea lions with pups then found some harbour seals. ADORABLE - could have watched them all day!
More Seal Pics
James took the best photos of the cute harbour seals/sea lions… 🥹🥹🥹
Griffith Observatory
Spent a couple of hours at the observatory and stuck around to see if we could see the SpaceX Falcon 9 launch from up there… caught the rocket plumes!
View From Our Hotel Is 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Anniversary Dinner
Dinner at Il Pastaio near Rodeo Drive to celebrate first anniversary. Followed by a lift home in a self-driving car 😱 LA has been fun, now up the coast!
Fossil Hunting
Bashed apart rocks for about 6 hours straight, and found lots of little fossils on Jalama Beach. Followed by a campfire and night in a cabin.
Cambria
Farmer’s market, dinner at our Airbnb using the fresh produce we bought (aka the most expensive sausages known to man) and elephant seals the next morning.
Hearst Castle
A bonkers castle on the top of the hills overlooking the Pacific. Built by a billionaire in the 1920s/30s, from a mishmash of relics from around the world (e.g. French tapestries from the 1400s and Ancient Greek/Egyptian statues), where Hollywood stars, presidents and anyone ‘in’ would come to party.
