Cycling Day 28: Onomichi & Takehara
Complete the Shimanami Kaido in Onomichi and visit 'cat alley' with Suchern...and then I think I'm headed west to Hiroshima (where she's already been).
I decided to look in at Takehara, sometimes known as 'little Kyoto' thanks to traditional housing.

Camping
I popped into a supermarket after seeing the traditional buildings of Takehara, picking up some nice deep-fried burdock root, lotus root and sweet potato portions that were on offer, then carried on cycling until twilight and a small island I thought might have a wild camping spot (it was all a bit built up on the mainland by the main road).
I found a spot that looked okay quite quickly, but having crawled into my tent, realised I'd camped under a set chestnut tree and lots of spikes were coming through the floor 😯 Had to spend a while digging out the chestnut shells from under my tent...hopefully I got most of them, or I may be feeling a bit deflated by morning...
