Oh dear!
It was just a little short cut to get me to the pilgrim trail, shown on OpenStreetMap, but I think it was actually a drainage channel rather than a path and I've ended up stumbling around in the woods again! 🫣

Phew, made it through and joined the pilgrim trail after an hour of scrambling around in the woods!
No more OpenStreetMap brown footpath shortcuts for today!

Dubious choice?
For a while I thought I'd just be following a road all the way up, but, through a broken wooden barrier, a hiking trail led upward...
Did I say no more brown OpenStreetMap trails just now? 😯 This one looks easier to follow at the moment, and I think it's the original pilgrim trail before the road was laid (the road isn't on OpenStreetMap!).
Main trail again
This one's a bit more well-trodden than the last bit I was following, where there was some fern-bashing needed and I realised washing a stick in front of me would help keep the spider webs off my face!

This is nice, with the occasional view and all the flowers! There are some other hikers/pilgrims on the trail too 🙂
